One of the most indispensable activities before you promote a product is to find a profitable niche/market that has a lot of hungry buyers and they are more than ready to buy the products you are promoting. However, finding a niche can go a little bit tricky because that niche has to be interested enough so that you can jump right in and start promoting the products. In addition, that niche must also have low competition rate and is exploding so by the time you get everything ready, you can rank right on the first place of Google. Below you will find some of my advices that I have used to find niche for myself and I hope you see them as a helpful tips for you to choose the right market for yourself.
Write a list of future shopping trends
The first thing that I usually do is to write down a list of headlines on the newspapers today that indicate some shopping trend of the consumers. Newspapers and magazines are excellent source at knowing what’s going to be hot in the next several months. And believe me, several months will be enough for you to promote your website, do the SEO and get the good amount of traffic from the first page of Google so you can start collecting the money.
In addition, newspapers are also a good source of surveys, polls and some of them give you good insights about the shopping trend of the customer. For instance, I read the newspaper “Evergreen” today and I instantly notice about the headline that reports consumers are preparing to buy costumes for the Halloween. Right now is September and a month later will be the Halloween so I jump right into Market Samurai and did a research about this event to see whether I could promote some great products to people.
It’s hard to get used to it in the first place but with practice, but gradually you will see this is the very strong method to use for.
Go and search on Amazon.com
Amazon is a great source of knowing what is becoming hot in the near future. Here’s what you can do:
- Go to each category of Amazon.
- Click on the Bestsellers tab, you will instantly receive a list of hot items on Amazon
![]()
Important note about this method. When you are skimming through the list of items, don’t think that those items are the products you are trying to promote. Think about them in terms of what kind of problems do they solve, what kind of solution do they offer. So for instance, when I look at the Pamper diapers, I instantly think parent may have troubles with their babies. Maybe the babies won’t stop crying, etc.
Search on Clickbank to find profitable niches
Clickbank is the #1 marketplace for affiliates to make money online. Not only serving as a place where you can find products to promote, Clickbank, in my opinion, is also a good place for you to grab quick look at which market is profiting.
- Click on the marketplace link on the Clickbank homepage and you will be taken to the Clickbank product pages.
- Choose from the left your favorite category.
- Look on the gravity number. Gravity number is some unique number, calculated by Clickbank to tell you about the “hotness” of the product. High gravity means popular items with a lot of competition while low gravity means this item is not promoted much.
Final thoughts

Nice post Mike, you could also use thing such as Google Keyword tool and Market Samurai. Personally I use both, but I do find that Market Samurai is the best. I tend to use Clickbank to find a product that I like, preferably (10 products) then I check their niche market and see how well the market is. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Karl! I also use the same way as you. However, I think combining Google Keyword tool and Market Samurai only gives you the keyword people are looking for in your chosen niche, not finding what’s going to be hot in the next month. And I also agree with you Market Samurai is the best
Also keep up the good work, man. You’re in the right path

Choosing your niche is definitely the most important thing before starting a blog. Many people rush into this and then find out they really do not enjoy that niche or they can’t make money from it. You need to think really hard when choosing a niche as it has to be something you are not only an expert in but provides for a money-making environment.
By Mike
Exactly, Lynda! However, a chosen niche is not necessary something that you are quite expert about. For example, I have seen a lot of affiliate promote products for women on how to choose a gender for their babies when the babies are still in womb. Surprisingly, lots of them are men and they promote products in this niche! Don’t tell me they have lots of experience in this field because some of them are in age of 20
So I think you can have a little bit knowledge about some niche to start promoting products, not necessarily an expert. But, you know, expert’s always better

You are so right! There are a lot of young entrepreneurs out there that are just genius when it comes to promoting affiliate products. And they can promote anything. But for some people it is much easier to promote something they know a lot about and have experience with already.

That’s true Lynda. It’s totally true!

Hi again Mike,
I recently wrote a post which unfortunately is just old enough to not be available in my CommentLuv choices any more. There is a much better way to find a profitable niche and build a truly powerful blog: choose the audience you want to reach and base that choice on who else wants to reach that audience.
I hope you will forgive me for sharing the link to my post on how to choose niches that will automatically position you where the money will be.

Thanks Gail..nicely share. I’m glad to let you insert that in your comment because I believe it may help my readers in some ways on this topic.
Cheers!

Hi Mike! Your advice on how to find a profitable niche provides a fresh standpoint on this broad subject. It is easy to understand and basically easy to follow. Basically, it doesn’t take that much knowledge to make money online. It just needs the basic knowledge on how to do it, a clear path or strategy and the dedication to achieve this goal. But it is not instant, as others have promoted.
