Sell Physical Items Online through eBay, Etsy or Amazon
If you’re good at making hand-made items such as bracelets, T-shirts or gift items, you can try to make money by selling them on eBay, Etsy or Amazon. For example, if you search for hand-made bracelets on eBay, lots of people sell these items from $1.99 – $3.99 and after subtracting all fees, you can make up to $1 on each item.
The key question is: How many you can make and how good is your sales copy?
Sell Physical Items through your Online Store
Try to be a merchant / businessman where you buy items in bulk and then resell them to customers. This form of eCommerce requires more time, money and effort to start-up because you have to build an online store front as well as buying the stock to sell.
The key to success here is: Have an impressive design, a convenient shopping experience, niche items and merchandise controlling management skills.
Sell Physical Items through Drop Shipping
I know a lot of people who do drop shipping online. Drop shipping means that you do not own the actual items you are selling, but rather forward the customer orders to the suppliers who will ship the ordered items to the customer. You make money on the difference between amount customers pay and amount you pay suppliers. For instance, if you sell a TomTom GPS for $149.99 and suppliers charges $129.99, you make $20 on the sale.
Sell Information and Non-Physical Items
If you can create an eBook, video courses, short reports, or online training, you can make lots of money selling these information products.
The process starts like this: Create content -> Make a website -> Add products to Clickbank, Paydotcom, etc.. -> Find JV -> Start to make money.
Sell Non-Information and Non-Physical items
Designers and freelancers often make money by creating nice themes, graphics and designs to sell on marketplaces like ThemeForest and Mojo. If you are a talented designer, you can make some decent money. Remember to give good support to your customers. For a list of items you can make, pay attention to the categories in these sites. Recently one guy one ThemeForest surpassed $750k in sales. He has about 25 themes in his portfolio.
Buy an Item on eBay and Sell it Again
This is what I used to do in my early days to make money online. Some days I made a few hundred dollars, but that doesn’t happen everyday. I bought items from garage sales and from eBay. On eBay, I often searched for misspelled items to buy. The most memorable sale I had was when I bought a software product called Macromedia Flash for $10 and then sold it for $150 on eBay. Great markup!
Another way is buy an old item, such as a computer with a minor problem, fix it and then sell it again. I have tried this and have made some nice profits. However, make sure to add the shipping costs to your calculations, otherwise you will be losing money.
