Top 17 Niche Social News Sites for Bloggers, Freelancers and Designers to Promote Content

Top 17 Niche Social News Sites for Bloggers, Freelancers and Designers to Promote Content

I recently wrote an article about free blog directories where you can promote your blog posts. This post will be a followup where I will list social news sites where you can promote your articles to get free web traffic or just simply dig around to get more information about blogging and internet marketing.

There aren’t many quality lists of the social bookmarking sites online, especially bookmarking sites for bloggers and internet marketers, which prompted me to create this list. Most of the lists that I found contain dead links and links that don’t provide any real value at all. So here we go with my list of the top niche social news sites for bloggers.

Top Social News Sites for – Making Money Online and Blogging Tips Niches

1. BlogEnagage

BlogEngage is an active social news site for bloggers and internet marketers. It was built by Brian and it is based on the Pligg platform. The nicest thing about BlogEngage (compared to other Pligg-based sites) is that you can embed vote buttons on your own blog. Recently, Brian ran a contest so that the author of the story which is engaged the most will be rewarded $40. It was a very interesting contest.

2. MMOSocialNetwork

MMOSocialNetwork is a free link-sharing community for bloggers who blog about making money online. Although it is quite new, MMOSocialNetwork has proved that it is an interesting place for bloggers to share quality content and discuss ideas about making money online with each other.

3. Sphinn

It would be a mistake if I forget to mention Sphinn, the largest place to submit articles that are related to Internet Marketing, SEO and Making Money Online.

4. Inbound Marketing University

Previously a HubSpot social news site, it has now been renamed to the Inbound Marketing University. This site does not have as much content as Sphinn, BlogEnagage or MMOSocialNetwork, so you only need few votes to get on the front page of this site.

5. SERPD

The name implies that this social news site is dedicated to news related to SEO and Google only. However, you are welcome to submit any news related article about PPC, Marketing, Analytics, domains and a lot more. It was recently bought out by the BURN SEO company, so SERPD is expected to be a next big thing in social news sites.

Top Social News Sites for – Web Design, Web Development, SEO, WordPress Tutorials, News and Resources Niches

6. Dzone

DZone is the most famous social news site for programmers and bloggers who write blog posts about programming or tutorials on WordPress, PHP, jQuery, etc. I have had several blog posts that have been featured on the homepage of Dzone and they receive very good traffic from this site.

7. Tweako

Tweako is the home for all articles that are tutorials on several topics such as computing, technology, internet, how to, etc. Actually, I don’t know how to categorize this site because you can also submit blog tips and internet marketing articles to it, so just browse around and submit any articles that you see would fit within this site’s categories.

8. The Web Blend

Web Blend is a community for web designers, WordPress designers and developers. Most of the articles on the front page of Web Blend are related to design news, design tutorials and WordPress tutorials. If you are passionate about WordPress and design, WebBlend is an ideal community to get involved with and network with people who also have your interests.

9. DesignFloat

DesignFloat is a community built for the web design niche such as web graphics, HTML and CSS, web design interfaces and tutorials about web design.

10. Designbump

Designbump is a very popular community for web designers. Because Designbump was built by web designers for web designers, you can understand why it has a very minimal, clean and nice interface. Designbump also supports a standalone button which you can embed into your blog posts.

11. PixelGroovy

PixelGroovy is a social news site which is controlled by web designers and developers who decide which articles are worthy to be featured on their homepage. Most of the topics covered on the front page are tutorials, news items that are related to web design and the web development niche.

12. Developersniche

Developersniche is another site for WordPress enthusiasts. Although the most recent articles seem to be about two weeks old, it’s still worth giving it a try and becoming an active member in this community.

13. WPScoop

WPScoop is another  site in which you can hang around with people who love WordPress and write about WordPress tutorials. Like Developersniche, the articles on the front page seem to be a few weeks old, but it’s still worth trying it out.

14. Graphic Design Links

Graphic Design Links is a community for articles which are related to graphic design, web design and web development tutorials and news. Some articles with just 4 votes have been featured on the homepage, so you have a good chance to make your articles also appear on the front page with just a few votes.

Social News Sites for – Bloggers who Blog about Freelancing, Entrepreneurship and Business

15. BizSugar

If you blog about business tips or entrepreneurship, then you should know about BizSugar. It’s a popular site for social news about any business oriented content. Topics on this site range from social media for business owners to more advanced topics such as decision making and operational management.

16. Tip’d

Tip’d is a site for finance, investing and business content. The topics on Tip’d are more detailed than BizSugar. It covers personal finance, debt and expense topics as well.

17. YCombinator Hacker News

Not exactly a social news site because you can’t vote on your favorite articles. New stories are listed on the top and will be pushed toward the end as more and more new stories are submitted. The general strategy is to publish your site at a time when other people are not submitting articles so your link remains on the front page for the longest time. Another factor to get noticed is having a high number of comments. If your article has a lot of comments, it can grab the attention of a lot of people.

Not a Complete List

This list is not meant to be the most complete list because I know there are still many other social news sites that I haven’t mentioned. If you know any other websites that you have used to share your articles with people in your niche, please comment below and I will add them to this list.
