Niche directory submission is considered better than general directory submission because search engines will rank your keywords higher due to the related context in the niche directory. Below is a list of 10 blog directories that you can submit your blog to, so that you can boost your traffic and increase backlinks.
BlogAdr
http://blogadr.com - PR 4 – Yahoo domain links: 171,000 – Yahoo page links: 84,000
Pros:
- No registration required
- $1 advertisement option to get listed on the sites page with 5 deep links submission
Cons:
- No submission guidance
- No approval time information
BlogHub
http://bloghub.com – PR 6 – Yahoo domain links: 1,000,000 – Yahoo page links: 1,000,000
Pros:
- High PR
- Not merely a directory but a place to add your blog and people can vote for it or review it
Cons:
- Registration required
- No submission guidance
Goblog4i
http://goblog4i.com – PR 0 – Yahoo domain links: 130,000 – Yahoo page links: 129,000
This directory is PR 0 but I still included it in the list because the PR may increase in the next update due to the high number in domain links and Yahoo page links.
Pros:
- Fast approval. Only takes 24 to 48 hours to get approved.
- Clear submission instruction
Cons:
- Low PR
FreeblogDirectory
http://freeblogdirectory.info – PR 2 – Yahoo domain links: 4,000 – Yahoo page links: 4,000
Pros:
- No registration required
Cons:
- Email to submit site to directory
BlogRankings
http://blogrankings.com – PR 6 – Yahoo domain links: 2,000,000 – Yahoo page links: 995,000
This directory may win the best design directory for its neat, clean and minimal design.
Pros:
- Blog ranking and voting community which encourages clicks on links to visit the blogs
- Your blog gets a chance to be displayed on the homepage if you have good content
Cons:
- Registration required
Dmegs
http://dmegs.com – PR 4 – Yahoo domain links: 324,000 – Yahoo page links: 322,000
Pros:
- 72 hour approval time
- Appear directly under paid submissions
- Free search engine submission
Cons:
- Reciprocal link required. A reciprocal link is two way linking between two sites. For example, site A links to site B and in return, site B links to site A. Reciprocal links can decrease the value of the link because Google may find out about your exchange agreement. However, the reason why I have listed this directory is the fast approval rate and a chance to be exposed to traffic coming to the site.
Article99
http://article99.com/blogs – PR 3 – Yahoo domain links: 33,000 – Yahoo page links: 12,000
Pros:
- This site is actually a combination of many submission services like article submission and RSS Feed submission. It’s also an active community of readers and bloggers who read blogs and vote on each other. Really worth checking out.
Blogville
http://blogville.us – PR 5 – Yahoo domain links: 108,000 – Yahoo page links: 96,000
Pros:
- High PR
- No registration required
- No reciprocal link
Cons:
- Don’t know when your blog will be approved and where it will be listed
BlogDirectory
http://blogdirectory.net – PR 3 – Yahoo domain links: 8,000 – Yahoo page links: 8,000
Pros:
- Combination of blog directory, article directory and blog community
- Low number of blogs, which make your blog easier to appear on front page
Cons:
- The only disadvantage of this site is the reciprocal link, which I do not like
Ontoplist
http://www.ontoplist.com/blog-directory - PR 5 – Yahoo domain links: 802,000 – Yahoo page links: 286,000
Pros:
- If you go to the homepage, you will see it’s more than a blog directory. It’s a combination of an article submission service and a directory. More than that, it allows you to track how your blog is doing and also shows random blogs on the homepage.

Hey Kirk,
Great article.
Just tried a couple of directories. BlogRankings and Ontoplist
require a back link too. BlogHub asks for it as a favor.
But they might be well worth the trouble.
By Kirk Maxi
Hi Case,
I just checked and they do. However, they never mention in their submission rules that they require a reciprocal link.
BlogRankings is a actually a ranking directory site. Blogs listed in blogrankings receive a fair amount of traffic and viral marketing because they have a Facebook share button on the top of each site if you visit it. Blogrankings also allows you to list your most recent entries on your blog to the listing page, that’s why it requires a feed URL. So it’s well worth checking out.

Nice article Kirk. One thing I don’t like about these free blog directories is that, as Case stated, you need to link back to them in order to get a link from them. I actually don’t see the point in doing that (and yes I understand that these directories do it to get more backlinks).
By Kirk Maxi
That’s right Julius, the reciprocal link devalues your backlinks. In addition, listing in the blog directories would not help much if you don’t have specific keywords you are aiming for. That’s why I have filtered 2, 3 blog directories in my initial list to give readers to complete list which I truly believe will give some value as a starting point to get their blogs going. You’ll also notice some directories in the list allow you to have deep links, some have fast approval rates and some can bring you 10, 20 visitors per day. I think those are really valuable for new blogs in the niche.

Awesome list Kirk – and really thorough too.
Also I would include BlogEngage, Bloggersbase and MMOSocialnetwork as great social bookmarking type blog directories. More community based I suppose, but then I dont know how communal the ones you listed are so…
Thanks for including the PR and incoming links etc – really useful post.
By Kirk Maxi
I know those three sites and I often promote my blog on them. However, I think they are merely a community, or social bookmarking sites for bloggers rather than blog directories. I’m searching for some more sites like those three and definitely will write a post to cover this. Thanks Alex.
By Peter J
The thing that keeps these networks going is the backlink. Thanks for all the different directories, they are of great use.
By Kirk Maxi
My pleasure, Peter. I will constantly update this entry because I feel there are lots more new and potential directories out there than my current list.
By Mandeep
Great list Kirk! I just tried a couple of them. Some of them were a little complicated and didnt provide information on how to submit the website. Thanks for the great review with each directory.
By Kirk Maxi
Thanks for your comment Mandeep. Your recent blog post about advertising the site offline looks very interesting. I’m sure that I haven’t heard anyone apply offline advertising for a blog before so what you suggest really worth trying out.
By Mandeep
I would suggest all of the things that I talk about in my post (but I might be biased). However, If I had to choose one I would suggest getting t-shirts with your blog logo and url printed on them, It is one idea that can be applied to any blog for advertising.
By Kirk Maxi
That’s a good idea. However, I think you need to have a budget first, right? And your blog really needs to have something unique to attract people.
By Mandeep
Yea, very true. You would need some unique content before you start advertising. You will need to spend some money on the t-shirts but, it probably won’t be a huge amount of money.
By Cindy
Thanks for this list, Mike… I think I will avoid sites that require you to add their link. I used to do that and my sidebar was filled buttons that ruined how my site looked.
By Kirk Maxi
Sure, of course you can take advantage of my list and do whatever you want. Oh, and did you have the code that allows the blog roll links to be displayed on the homepage only? That’s important because you want to make sure those links just appear on the homepage, not on all of the pages in your blog.
By Fiona Bosticky
Great list of blog directories, but I do share most commenters sentiments about the reciprocal link that some directory sites demand. Personally, I prefer Blog Communities over Blog Directories. I find you get more traffic from blog communities, and I like the idea of engaging and supporting other bloggers.
A few of my favourites include: http://bloggers.com, http://www.blogengage.com, and http://www.mybloglog.com
By Kirk Maxi
Link reciprocal is surely a big draw back of the blog directories that I have mentioned, Fiona. Personally, I prefer blog communities over blog directories as well. I like to interact with other bloggers and gain mutual knowledge with them. BloggerLuv is also another great blog community that I would like to add to your list
By Sathish @ TechieMania
Thanks for sharing these web directories list. I am looking to build links for my blog and this would be really helpful for me. Thanks a lot.
By Kirk Maxi
Try to accept their reciprocal links for several months and then, see the results, Sathish. If there is no increase in traffic, you can always remove their links.
By Dana@Buy Facebook Fans
Thanks for the list. I don’t usually submit to blog directories but its definitely something I’ve been wanting to get into so this is a great place to start.
By Kirk Maxi
You’re welcome, Dana

Nice collection of blog directories, I love directories without the need of registration, I also do have some collection of directories here http://infotechgarage.com/website-directories
By Niairen@Earn Money Online
Hello Sir MIke! that’s a very nice list you’ve got there! and thank you very much for sharing. Although, I myself do hate reciprocal link because I don’t know where to put their tiny banner and sometimes it looks messy on your blog. thanks for the share! more power!
By Kirk Maxi
You could just put a text widget on your sidebar and put all of their codes in there. That’s what I did, Niairen and hope it will work out for you
